Scottish rag the Daily Record has reported that Alex McLeish is fronting a bid for Charlton, but the report has been treated with derision in informed circles.
The report claims he is involved in the bid with lifelong pal Donald Muir, but any interest south of the border does not stack up with his other ambitions: Heading up bid claim
It is true that McLeish was at The Valley last Saturday as a guest of Richard Murray, indeed VOTV editor Rick Everitt tweeted a picture of him in the directors' box. (It looks like this was the picture the Record used of the kilted conspirators which was attributed to an 'unknown internet source'). However, there can be also sorts of reasons for enjoying hospitality at a match (although probably not the quality of the football).
