Clutching at straws?

Richard Cawley notes: 'The opening four matches of the Championship season will all be against bosses appointed over the summer. Can't imagine that has happened too often. Maybe that could be a positive factor for the south Londoners as they look to hit the ground running?

But then players may be trying to impress their new boss, something that is a regular occurrence at Watford.

With the start of the Championship season now just 10 days away, Nathan Jones at this stage will be the 4th longest serving manager in that division and he’s only been in charge at Charlton Athletic for just under 18 months now.

At least we landed Harvey Knibb in the end, what a saga that was.
