Football is a game of fine margins and the wins over Bolton Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town were welcome but not entirely convincing. As Louis Mendez has pointed out, we rely on goals scored after the 75th minute more than most League One teams. It would be reassuring to score early against Bristol Rovers tonight.
Mendez states: 'Charlton have scored 12 goals in the final 10 minutes (plus added-time) of games - the most in League One this season. They've also only conceded 2 goals in that timeframe - the joint fewest. The Addicks have also 'won' the most points with goals from 75 mins onwards - 12.'
The Gasheads are 18th in the table. Away from home they have won three, drawn one and lost ten. 25 goals have been conceded away from home. They are fifth from bottom in the form table: Chatlton are second.
Although they lost 2-0 at Wigan on Saturday, Inigo Calderon has improved their performances since his appointment last month. The previous Saturday they beat in form Barnsley 3-1 at home.
Dan Potts has now left the club after the expiration of his contract, but Nathan Jones has thanked the former Luton player for helping to establish the culture at the club, praise also extended to the departing Danny Hylton who will continue to hang around as a best mate: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/charlton-athletic-confirm-defender-exit-with-strikers-deal-also-expiring/
Hylton may yet rejoin in some capacity. It's like Ian Dowie's brother, well not quite.
