Why we should be worried about Charlie Methven

I formed a negative view of Charlie Methven watching the television series about Sunderland.  He came across as an arrogant, self-satisfied big ego who was also very shallow if superficially articulate.  A typical Old Etonian in other words.   A blog from Sunderland supporters tell us why we should be very worried about him: https://www.si.com/soccer/sunderland/opinion/sunderland-why-charlton-fans-should-be-very-worried-about-charlie-methven-takeover

  1. I'm sure the Mackems' resentment seems genuine but their views on CM would be entirely different but for Patrick Bauer's intervention! The litany of complaint is also very selective in seeking out offense. The parasite outburst was specific to home viewers on illegal streams - not the 30,000 devotees in the stands.
The pink trousered posho gobshite doesn't need my defense but any description of him as Charlton owner is wide of the mark. For now he remains a director of one entity in the overarching smoke and mirrors corporate structure. His conduct, decisions and remuneration will be sanctioned by the actual owners, the money men. He'll get a salary of course but his tenure will be at the whim of the GFP bosses. Likely as not he's just been a broker in Charlton's latest ride on the ownership merry-go-round, the result of which should see the feckless Sandgaards jettisoned. Out of a frying pan for sure but fingers crossed where CAFC lands next.

  2. I am concerned that his track record is one of getting involved given his confidence in his own judgment.
