Liverpool player interests Bowyer

Hopefully, Lee Bowyer had an enjoyable birthday yesterday with his family with the attention directed at Frank Lampard.   At least Thomas Sandgaard has not spent as much money as Roman Abramovich.   Mind you, he usually ends up spending a lot of money sacking managers.

Lee Bowyer has confirmed that he has an interest in Liverpool winger Liam Millar who is seen as a stand in/replacement for Alfie Doughty: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-athletic-boss-lee-bowyer-confirms-interest-in-liverpool-winger/

I can't remember when we last had a Canadian player at Charlton.   Don't confuse him with the Irish professional footballer of the same name.

He has had a loan spell at Kilmarnock: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liam_Millar

Update: Richard Cawley has confirmed he will be signing today.

Meanwhile, other clubs are interested in Boreham Wood ace Sorba Thomas: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-boss-bowyer-were-not-only-club-who-admire-boreham-wood-ace/

As someone involved in non-league football.  At Leamington we have something of a production line for EFL clubs from the Championship to League Two, not least Friday's opponents Accrington Stanley.  At a recent game there were  almost as many scouts as 'stewards', and there was a sudden revving up of engines in the car park when the hot player of the moment came off.

Thomas still in the frame

Boreham Wood ace Sorba Thomas is still in Lee Bower's thinking as he seeks to strengthen his squad while keeping within the salary cap: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/defeat-at-hull-gives-more-realistic-picture-of-where-we-are-comparatively-says-charlton-manager-lee-bowyer/

Bowyer argued that the Hull performance and result gave a more realistic picture of where Charlton are, but this is unlikely to appease his growing band of critics.

Non-league ace off the radar

Director of football Steve Gallen saw Boreham Wood's Sorba Thomas as a development project rather like Macualey Bonne who might make some money for the club: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-athletic-transfer-chief-talks-about-recent-bid-for-boreham-wood-youngster/

Thomas has since been transfer listed by the non-league club, but Gallen says he hasn't given him a second thought.

New contract for keeper

Charlton have offered a new contract to Ashley Maynard-Brewer.   Lee Bowyer rates him highly: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/exclusive-charlton-athletic-offer-highly-rated-youngster-a-new-contract/

A somewhat indignant Lee Bowyer said that Charlton did everything by the book in their bid for Boreham Wood ace Sorba Thomas: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/we-did-nothing-wrong-charlton-boss-bowyer-on-bid-for-boreham-wood-attacker-confirms-one-more-signing-could-be-done/

It is evident that the move for Thomas was partly motivated by concern that Alfie Doughty might go to Celtic or elsewhere.   It is uncertain whether a renewed bid will be made in the next transfer window.

Addicks swoop for non league star

Charlton are prepared to pay a six figure sum for Boreham Wood attacker Sorba Thomas: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-athletic-make-move-for-boreham-wood-star-man/

He is seen as one of the hottest properties in non-league.  However, QPR and Barnsley are also interested.

The club profile of the 21-year old right winger is here: https://www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.uk/profiles/sorba-thomas-3/
