Pompey hopes

Michael Appleton said before Sunday's match against Cray Valley Paper Mills that he wanted Charlton to be a paragraph in the papers on Monday, not a leading story.   As it happens, The Times devoted two short paragraphs to Charlton, but made a major splash of Portsmouth's defeat at Chesterfield where they played their first team..
