Charlton come from behind twice

Nigel Adkins made five changes for the game against Portsmouth.   DJ has not featured for three matches.  Curbs thought that Adkins had gone for experience down the spine, lining up 4-2-3-1, while Pompey were 3-4-3.

On five minutes Portsmouth got the ball in between two of our players, Matthews was out of position and Curtis put the ball into the far corner of the net to make it 0-1.

Leko fed Lee well but, but Bezunu saved well from the shot.  Matthews made a good challenge to prevent it being 0-2.

Steve Brown said that when Charlton went to press, Portsmouth played it through us quite comfortably.  There were big gaps in the centre of the pitch and movement in front of the ball was the difference between the two sides.

Marquis should have made it 0-2, but scuffed his shot.

Leko put in a good shot and won a corner.   Gilbey forged forward, but Bezunu saved from him.

Possession was 60-40 in Pompey's favour.  'Nigel Adkins, he ain't got a clue' was heard from the Covered End.

HT: 0-1

Sean Clare came on in place of Arter.   Charlton won a free kick taken by Lee and Sean Clare scored low and hard in front of the Covered End.

Bezunu saved from Lee after a Clare run.  Charlton kept up pressure after the corner.

An effort from Leku was saved by Bezunu at the expense of a corner.   The Addicks won a second corner. Portsmouth counter attacked, but Clare made an important challenge.  Soare was booked.

Portsmouth went ahead again through Harness set up by Marquis after Charlton had been in the ascendancy.   There was a gap in the centre of the penalty area to be exploited.

MacGillivray saved from Harness.   Marquis had space but could not convert.  Hackett-Fairchild came on for Harness.

Stockley was replaced by Davison.   Blackett-Taylor also came on.

Blackett-Taylor had a lovely first touch and Davison was on hand to score and make it 2-2.

Five minutes were added on.  Pearce made two magnificent challenges.   A late free kick for Charlton went out for a goal kick.
