Ben Garner's Charlton secured three points in their first home game, Corey Blackett-Taylor scoring the only goal on 62 minutes. It was a great move down the left, Morgan slipped in and his cross was palmed into the path of CBT.
Charlton made a slow start in the heat and Derby threatened in the first half, hitting the base of the post just before half time.
Morgan, whose astute game management drove Charlton on in the second period, almost made it 2-0, but his low shot was turned around the post by Wildsmith.
Charlton are 5th in the tentative table.
