"won't rest on my laurels" that's either monumental knowing understatement or galactic delusion

NJ might have backed him as a horse for this course but he's more (broken) pit pony than point to pointer, let alone thoroughbred
If he's in the squad come August, Charlton will be having a catastrophic illness and injury crisis or the consortium has packed its bags and skidaddled
You can't blame him for making a case, even if it is weak. I think Nathan Jones is quite hard headed.
