Automatic places recede further after latest results

Birmingham City's victory at Peterborough, secured their promotion: no surprise there. Once known as the Millwall of the Midlands, Louis Mendez has tweeted that they may find the Championship a challenge for all their wealth and backing.

Wycombe secured an important 1-0 win at Huddersfield, the Kazakhs are now five points about Charlton in third.  Inconsistent Bolton lost 0-1 at home to Rotherham and dropped to 7th.

Reading are now in 6th place.   They could still be expelled from the EFL, but have been given a stay of execution.  The EFL look as if they are trying to avoid such a drastic and unfair step, although their negligence contributed to the problem in the first case.  It is another example of why football is incapable of regulating itself, whatever Baroness Brady may say.
