Price was not right

Scotland supremo Alex McLeish has told the Evening Times in Glasgow that an effort to buy Charlton came to an end because Roland wanted too much for the club. An investment company was also involved. Presumably this leaves just the Australians in the frame.

  1. I was a tad nervous about the Scottish bid, it was clear that McLeish and the ex-Rangers director whatever his name is, were fronting the bid, but for who? There's no way they had the personal money to invest themselves and I didn't like the potential prospect of McLeish either becoming manager or something like Director of Football. Given the Slater/Jimenez era and Kevin Cash sort of funding things until he got bored and the current hands-off owners I'd rather we have someone up front and identifiable as the owner and who is punting in his own money. Anyway it seems that the Aussies are the preferred bidder and maybe that is for the best.

  2. Addickted - do keep up: the end of Cash's involvement had nothing to do with boredom and everything to do with being promised a slice of a property deal which in truth was never likely and Acworth do us all a favour and take your own advice.
