Much as I enjoy The Athletic. there is not much that is new in their story this morning about the prospective Charlton takeover. We knew that Charlie Methven was one of the front men and about the SE7 partners vehicle. We also knew that most of the £10m asking price was funded by American investors previously involved in the MLS.
We also knew that Roland is not interested in selling The Valley or Sparrows Lane, and why would when he earns £500,000 a year when leasing them out. His £50m asking price is excessive.
The intentions of the prospective new owners remain opaque, but fans have learnt not to trust fine words and judge them by what they actually do.
