Pigs fly but Charlton don't

Flying pigs delayed the start of the game between Coventry City and Charlton at the Ricoh today and a second wave saw the players taken off. The match ended 1-1 which relegated Coventry, but it wasn't an inspiring performance from the Addicks. Coventry's back four didn't look strong and their left back was limping in the final phase, but the Addicks failed to go for the three points.

After the flying pigs, the game got off to a slow start. On 20 minutes an excellent DaSilva cross saw Byrne head against the bar. Magennis beat his man with a lovely turn, but the ball went just over.

Pearce denied Thomas with an important tackle, but the Sky Blues made it 1-0 from the corner. Taken short, the set piece caught Charlton off guard. Panic set in and the defending was sloppy.

On 38 minutes Rudd stopped it being 2-0, saving well from Jones. Magennis drew a save from Burge.

HT: Sky Blues 1, Addicks 0

An early Coventry corner was scrambled away. From a Holmes corner, Magennis flicked the ball on and Bauer equalised with a header on 54 minutes.

Konsa was replaced by Forster-Caskey. Crofts got a yellow card for a foul.

Rudd kept Charlton in the game with a great save from Jones and another one from G Thomas. Aribo replaced Holmes on 78 minutes. Forster-Caskey drew a save from Burge with a powerful shot.

In time added on, Burge came up for a Coventry corner. With the Coventry goal open, Rudd supplied Magennis, but he missed.

Charlton have gone up to 15th.

Unconfirmed reports state that Karl Robinson will not see out his contract, but will join Wigan.
