The battle continues

Giving a presentation at Cass Business School yesterday I was introduced as a Charlton Athletic supporter which brought a ripple of sympathetic laughter from the audience. Today the Addicks face another tough test against the promotion chasing Shrimpers.

Karl Robinson admits that he is on a steep learning curve and faces the toughest challenge of his career: Vertical curve

Chris Powell will be on Channel 5's football programme tonight and here he talks about Southend as a 'brilliant' club: Blues made me

The Times does not even think it is worth mentioning Charlton its listing of League One relegation prospects this morning. Coventry City and Chesterfield are judged to be already effectively down (99.9 and 99.8 chances respectively). Swindon have a 37.2 per cent chance, Shrewsbury Town 26.2 per cent, Oldham Athletic 11.6 per cent, Gillingham 11.2 per cent, Port Vale 10.4 per cent and Bury 3.8 per cent.

Odds are: Charlton 7/4, Draw 23/10, Southend 31/20.

The last Voice of the Valley for this season will be on sale around the ground before the match. Alternatively, you can order it online and get a Ramsgate postmark and a IoTA (Isle of Thanet Addicks) souvenir envelope. As well as the usual crew of vinegar pissers, Matt Wright interviews Chris Powell: Latest issue

Incidentally, Charlton spent £608,000 on agents' fees in 2016-17, by far the largest total in League One and a substantial proportion of the League One total of just over £3m. Did we get value for money?
