Welcome, Josh Parker

Charlton have signed Gillingham's Josh Parker on a six month contract. The Antigua and Barbuda international is an attacking player who can play as a striker and out wide. Lee Bowyer envisages him playing alongside Lyle Taylor.

His career has had its ups and downs: Red Star nightmare

Billy Clarke has left for a permanent contract at Bradford City.

Richard Cawley of the SLP commented, 'I don't think anybody can kid themselves that Charlton have emerged stronger from the end of that window. Parker feels more like a Clarke replacement than the loan they wanted for Grant. Lost a 14-goal striker and not been able to fill that void.

Target Mo Eisa was linked with a late move to Sunderland, but ended up staying at Bristol City.

Clarke: my injury struggle

Today's Football League Paper has a double page spread on Billy Clarke and his struggle to recover from his ACL injury.

Clarke said: 'I'd played the first four months of the season and I was really enjoying it. To have a season ending injury, which has now gone into this season, is unbelievably hard.'

'It's hard times in the gym physically and mentally.' Clarke admits that his method of recovery was largely to take himself away from the team environment. 'There were some lonely times, but it was my own choice.'

'I'm desperate to get back in,' he said. 'Now I'm watching games fully fit and waiting for my opportunity to get back. I give 100 per cent whenever I play and that won't change. I have no doubts I will get back to where I left off. I will also be hungrier and more experienced.'

He commented, 'Lyle Taylor is a great focal point up front and I don't think anyone comes close in this league to his partnership with Karlan Grant. Lee Bowyer has come in and he demands hard work. The same goes for his assistant, Johnnie Jackson. He's gone into coaching as if he's been doing it his whole career.'

Fans vote with their feet

Just 740 fans saw Charlton exit the Checkatrade Trophy last night with a 0-1 defeat at home to Swansea Under 21s - and some think that was a generous estimate.

The one point of interest was the return of Billy Clarke after eleven months out injured and he came the closest to putting the Addicks level: Lowest ever crowd

The EFL needs to take a long, hard look at this competition. Bringing in Under 23 sides devalues it in relation to the old paint drying trophy, and that is saying something. Of course, the real agenda here is bringing top flight reserve sides into the EFL as happens in Spain.

Bowyer admits he has not been able to play his strongest side

With all the injuries and now a suspension, it's no surprise that Lee Bowyer has not been able to play his strongest side yet: Injury update

Any physio wanting a job in football as always known that they will have a busy treatment table at Charlton. However, there is good news with Billy Clarke back in full training. Bielik is also back in full training.

Tariqe Fosu had to be used at Scunthorpe when he wasn't fully ready. However, the biggest dilemma the shell shocked supremo faces is at left back with former Dulwich Halmet full back Jamie Mascoll not ready.

CARD calls for boycott

CARD has called for a boycott at The Valley if Roland is still in charge when the new season kicks off: Boycott call.

I'm not personally convinced that this is a good idea. Fans are fed up with Roland, but he does want to go.

It's difficult to get reliable information on the takeover. Sources close to the Australians are claiming that it is a formality just awaiting EFL approval.

Meanwhile, Richard Cawley of the SLP has tweeted: 'Injuries have been an issue all through the Duchatelet era and 2018-19 is looking like it won't buck that trend. {As well as Vetokele] Clarke, Dijksteel and Reeves also out at the moment.'

Billy Clarke is out for the rest of year with a season ending knee injury: Billy Clarke

Jake Forster-Caskey is also out for the rest of this year. Although prone to the occasional mistake, he has been a useful player.

If you have a paper thin squad, it will fall apart at some point.

Flat share pair face up on pitch

AFC Wimbledon's Liam Trotter and Charlton's Billy Clarke are currently sharing an apartment in Beckenham, but the old Ipswich pals will be lining up against each up on the pitch on Saturday. In the meanwhile, there has been some banter going on between the pair: Promised a kicking

As Rick Everitt has pointed out on Twitter, Saturday's match is not a derby as it is being advertised. There is no rivalry or significant fan overlap.

AFC Wimbledon fans may, however, have former MK Dons boss Karl Robinson in their sights.

Bradford a 'properly run club' says Robinson

Referring to the warm remarks made by former Bantams Mark Marshall and Billy Clarke about Bradford City, Charlton coach Karl Robinson has commented, 'It shows the club is run properly and the quality they have at the club is there to see.'

Some of us might feel that there is a contrast with Charlton in terms of being properly run, but I am sure that is not what the supremo intended, given the mutual respect that he and Katrien Meire have for each other.

Robinson also revealed that he tried to sign Billy Clarke three times. He is a good signing, but Robinson refused to say why Bradford decided to let him go, hinting at some dark secret known only to him and la belle Katrien: Third time lucky

No celebrations for Clarke at Bradford

Billy Clarke can't wait to get back to Bradford on Saturday. Such is his respect for the Bradford fans that there will be no celebrations if he scores: Expecting a good reception

Clarke was rested against Oxford on Tuesday, but is expected to feature on Saturday.

Red card takes edge off victory

A red card for Andrew Crofts took the edge off Charlton's 2-1 victory over Exeter City in the Carabao Cup. A fuming Karl Robinson implied that the Addicks are being targeted by referees: Cup victors

The supremo was in a defiant mood after the game, giving it large. In a post match interview with Louis Mendez before he headed to Liverpool he said that he did not care if he 'got done by the FA': Tough talk

There were seven Academy graduates in the side and they all played their part. The goals came from Billy Clarke and Regan Charles-Cook.

308 Addicks made the trip to Devon in an attendance of 2,699.

Charlton still in hunt for Ben Reeves

Charlton would still like to sign Ben Reeves who comes with the peerless pedigree of having played for MK Dons where his contract is about to expire: Top summer target

Like imminent signing Billy Clarke he is a forward rather than a striker who likes to play behind the front men.

Jason Potter has started a new blog on Charlton Athletic programmes: Programmes

Fee agreed for striker

Charlton Athletic have agreed a fee for 29-year old Bradford City striker Billy Clarke, subject to a medical tomorrow: Billy Clarke

Irish by birth, he is a product of the Ipswich Town academy. After playing almost all games for the Bantams in 2014-15, he featured very little in 2015-16: Career details

He did suffer from injury problems and some think that he plays just behind the strikers, creating goal scoring opportunities.
