Jermain Defoe has been linked by the Orange One with a move to Charlton after his departure from Rangers. The 39-year old played with Johnnie Jackson at Tottenham Hotspur. Richard Cawley has commented: 'Charlton have had no contact with Jermain Defoe. I'm not saying it can't or won't happen. Just that not one been any movement from either side on. Fact he is a free agent means he can move outside of the transfer window.'
If he's not good enough for the Scottish Premier League he won't be nearly good enough for the combative English 3rd division

Defoe's former quality ain't in doubt but there's no chance he'd be on the same wavelength as any of our lower league plodders.
