The SLP's Louis Mendez provides his four takeaways from the win at Sunderland, emphasising the extent and ways in which Johnnie Jackson stamped his authority on the team: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/four-takeaways-from-charltons-1-0-win-at-sunderland-johnnie-jackson-passes-his-first-test-with-flying-colours/
Supporters have switched from extreme pessimism to extreme optimism, but VOTV editor Rick Everitt has injected a note of caution into efforts to boost the crowd for Saturday's fixture against Doncaster who also showed considerable improvement yesterday. He commented: ' I’m sure there will be a significant rebound in the crowd next week, but please don’t let’s start setting unrealistic expectations again. It’s a L1 game between two teams in the bottom four - calling on people to show up is fine but it won’t of itself put thousands on the gate.'
I'm always mindful of the way in which Curbs always approached games, never get too low on the lows or too high on the highs.
Is this the JJ effect or a poor Sunderland performance? Sunderland did little with all their possession though there was more grit and purpose from Charlton. Confidence is an important thing in any walk of life, if the players believe in what they are doing for a manager they have belief in then performances should improve. There's still a long way to go. Well done the boys, keep it up against Doncaster. COYR
