Shrimping time

Ten years ago Charlton beat Carlisle 1-0 away to win the promotion from League One with Chris Powell.  Today we face mighty Morecambe at home as we seek a top ten finish.  The CAS Trust preview assures us that this is still possible: https://www.castrust.org/2022/04/top-half-finish-still-possible/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=top-half-finish-still-possible

Apart from the 1920s when we had to seek re-election, our lowest ever finishing position has been 13th in the third tier.

Morecambe are fighting for survival in League One, having only won two games away, drawn four and lost fifteen.   They have conceded 49 goals on the road, the highest total in the division.

Their danger man is undoubtedly 25-goal striker Carl Stockton.   Some fans would like to see him at Charlton, but nearby Championship side Preston North End have already shown an interest as well as Portsmouth.

I had this down as a 4-1 win in my beginning of the season predictions, but this was clearly hubris.  However, if we turn up, we should be able to collect three points.
