Today's match at Peterborough has been called off, the pitch deemed unplayable in a late decision. This will be annoying for the 1,500 or so Addicks who had made the trip.
Why wasn't there an earlier announcement? There was even no announcement about a pitch inspection.
Peterborough are undertaking a full investigation into the postponement, but that is little consolation. Dean Holden said that the handling of the postponement was 'bang out of order': https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/dean-holden-fumes-over-lack-of-communication-from-peterborough-united-ahead-of-late-postponement/
Posh owner Darragh McAnthony has tweeted: ‘To help towards
making it right re away fans; myself and Jason Neale will pay personally for
over 30 plus coaches to take all away fans with tickets from today to
re-arranged fixture. For those who
cannot make the rearranged fixture, we will offer full refund but also free
ticket to next home league fixture our club ever plays against your club
regardless of timeline or league’s we play in.’
Charlton have fallen back to 14th in the table after wins for Oxford and Shrewsbury. Louis Mendez has commented: 'Charlton nine points off the top six now following this afternoon’s League One results. Barnsley in sixth still have a game in hand over us as well.'
Frankly, posh should be fined for this.
